Mary Moran, Director of Planned Giving and Endowment, WGBH
Mary Moran joined the development team at WGBH in 2001 and currently serves as the station's Director of Planned Giving and Endowment. A graduate of Georgetown Law School, Mary offers a unique background that combines development expertise (in higher education) with hands-on legal experience. Mary understands and appreciates the financial benefits of planned giving. She is particularly adept at working with donors to recommend what makes sense for their personal situation and to structure their gifts accordingly. The scope and success of her planned giving efforts at WGBH are extraordinary.

Mel Waggoner, Director of Gift Planning, OPB
With two decades of development experience at OPB, Mel Waggoner has seen many changes in public broadcasting's fund raising activities. Mel believes the most important changes are getting underway right now with the growing emphasis on major gift and planned gift marketing. The planned gift program at OPB, under Mel's direction, began eleven years ago and the results have been more than the station ever expected. As Mel likes to say, "Planned giving has not only preserved our bacon, it is currently saving it!"

Julie Feely, Associate Director of Planned Giving, OPB
Julie Feely has worked in major gift and planned gift marketing for eleven years, in higher education at Reed College in Portland and in public broadcasting at OPB. As a highly successful Director of Major Gifts at Reed, Julie spent much of her time visiting donors in their homes throughout the United States. At OPB, Julie has put her donor cultivation experience to good use and now focuses her attention on gift annuity marketing, donor advisor contacts, special events and seminars, website marketing and advertising and promotion of planned gifts. Her broad and in depth experience makes Julie an excellent resource.

Earl Blauner, Director of Gift Planning and Endowment, KQED
Earl Blauner, has 14 years experience in gift planning cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding planned gifts. He successfully founded and grew KQED's robust, comprehensive gift planning and endowment program, increasing endowment from $2 million to over $15 million in the last four years, including six gifts ranging from $800,000 to more than $8 million, amounts unprecedented in public broadcasting. Earl is an attorney with more than 30 years professional and volunteer work with non-profit organizations.

Karen Marek, Associate Director of Gift Planning, KQED
Karen Marek's responsibilities include stewarding donor relationships, marketing planned gifts, administering KQED's gift annuity program, and, of course, working with donors to plan gifts to KQED. She has worked in Planned Giving for five years and came to KQED from the Harvard University Art Museums, where she served as Membership Manager.

Gay Cookson, Director of Special Gifts, KUED
Gay Cookson has been with public television since 1990. She has raised money for KUED-7 in Salt Lake City, Utah in the capacities as Corporate/Foundation Manager, Major Gifts Manager, and currently as the Special Gifts Manager where she is responsible for raising money through bequests, simple trusts, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, appreciated property and other gift planning vehicles. After leading a $5 million endowment campaign that concluded in 2000, she also assumed responsibility for endowment gifts. She has been recognized for her work within PBS with Development Awards for Underwriting, Major Gifts and Planned Giving.

Elise Marquam-Jahns, Director, Special Gifts, Twin Cities Public Television
Elise Marquam-Jahns has over twenty years of experience in public broadcasting. Before launching Twin Cities Public Television's Planned Giving Program in 1995, Elise was Manager, Planning and Development for TPT's sister station TPT17 and was instrumental in building the award winning corporate and foundation divisions of Twin Cities Public Television's Development Department.
As Director of Special Gifts, Elise has developed a number of innovative strategies, including TPT's very successful on and off-site Program Clubs for major and planned giving donors and prospects. During her tenure as Director of Special Gifts, planned giving revenue has increased dramatically (1,400%) and the number of members in TPT's planned giving recognition society The Visionary Society has grown from two to 117. On-going, comprehensive planned giving marketing strategies have recently resulted in the largest bequest gift in TPT's history: a generous gift of half a million dollars.
